Carpet Stretching in Granada Hills, CA

Why does carpet ripple again after it was stretched once?

Usually because it was kicked, not power-stretched. A knee kicker moves a few inches. It cannot pull a Granada Hills hallway tight end to end. Cut-pile over concrete slab is the common case here. Tack strip on slab is nailed into masonry, and those nails loosen. If the strip lets go, new tension pulls it out again. We check strip grip before touching the carpet.

Latex delamination is the other cause. Older postwar tract carpet separates from its backing. Stretch that and you get waves between the seams instead of a flat floor. Berber and low-pile loop from 1980s–2000s builds also mark easily. Loops snag on a stretcher head if the teeth are set too deep.

Doors come off. Furniture moves. Trimming at the wall is permanent, so we re-tuck first and cut only where length exists. Stairs are separate work and slower, because each tread and riser gets tensioned on its own.

Honest limit: if the pad is urine-saturated through to slab, stretching is the wrong first step. Pull and replace the pad, seal the slab, then stretch. Otherwise you tighten carpet over an odor source that returns with heat.
